KENNEWICK, Wash. The Benton Franklin Fair Association has completed a new 4-H Arena at the Benton County Fairgrounds. The nearly $45,000 project was made possible through a $12,500 grant from the Wildhorse Foundation and the Fair Association's continued commitment to enhancing facilities that serve youth and the community.
Originally built decades ago by the Benton Franklin Mounted Sheriff's Posse, the wooden arena had faithfully served generations of 4-H members and equestrians but had reached the end of its useful life.
Over several days last month, dedicated Fair and Rodeo volunteers demolished the aging structure, removed the old materials, installed new Noble Panels, leveled and sifted the arena footing, and rebuilt the arena from the ground up. Big D's Construction provided equipment and expertise to assist with the project.
The new arena provides a safer, more durable space for 4-H horse members, horse clubs, clinics, barrel races, and community events throughout the year, ensuring this important facility will continue to serve local youth and fairgrounds users for years to come.
"The Benton Franklin Fair exists to create opportunities for youth and strengthen our community," said Lori Lancaster, Executive Director of the Benton Franklin Fair Association. "We're incredibly grateful to the Wildhorse Foundation for helping make this project possible. Their support, combined with the dedication of our volunteers, has created a lasting resource that will benefit generations of 4-H members and the community."
The Benton Franklin Fair Association extends its sincere appreciation to the Wildhorse Foundation, Noble Panels, Big D's Construction, and the dedicated volunteers whose hard work made the project a reality.
As a nonprofit organization, the Benton Franklin Fair Association continues to invest in projects that enhance the Benton County Fairgrounds and create opportunities for youth, agriculture, and community events throughout the year.
