FAIR DONATES 7,860 POUNDS OF FOOD TO 2ND HARVEST

KENNEWICK – The Benton Franklin Fair is proud to donate $1,310 to 2nd Harvest Tri-Cities to help fight hunger and feed hope in our community. Those dollars will buy 7,860 pounds of food.

With that contribution, the Fair has donated 108,258 pounds of food to the hunger-relief network over the past decade.

“The Benton Franklin Fair and Rodeo has helped Second Harvest source more than 108,000 pounds of donated fresh produce and other healthy food,” said Jean Tucker, Development and Marketing Director for Second Harvest. “That is equivalent to 90,000 meals for hungry kids and families in our area - an incredible impact.”

The fair donated $2 from each adult admission ticket sold on opening day,

August 20.

The Fair Board sees the long-standing partnership with 2nd Harvest as a natural fit given the event’s agricultural roots.

“Making sure our community has enough to eat is a priority,” said Duane Howard, fair board president. “The Fair partners with charities and programs year-round that add value to our community, developing long-term relationships that make a difference. The Fair has supported 2nd Harvest for more than a decade. That’s something we’re very proud of.”
